✨ Help your students along the language processing hierarchy with Categorize and Connect! ✨
 
Categorize and Connect comes with 3 speech therapy activities to help give visuals to your students: Category Sorting, Which One Doesn't Belong, and Compare and Contrast. Across these 3 activities are 22 different categories with 9 different items per category. That's 198 different items!!
 
About the activities:
 
✅ Category Sorting
The visual component of this resource will support your language learner in understanding how vocabulary words are related within groups and will help them expressively grow their vocabulary as well. 
Direct teach: You can sort and say which items belong in which categories together
Review knowledge: Pick a category sheet, then set out however many choices you feel are appropriate for your learner to choose from (start with fewer choices then increase as they become more independent with the categorization skill). Ask your student to select, say, and Velcro the associated items to their correct category.
You can also set out several items from the same category and then ask your student to name the category/group that they come from. 
 
✅ Which One Doesn’t Belong
This is a helpful tool to use while you are targeting categorization as well. You can Velcro items on the page that are all part of the same group, except for 1 of the items would be in a different group. Ask your student to determine which doesn’t belong and ask them what category to which it actually belongs. 
 
✅ Compare and contrast
Select two related items to Velcro in the boxes of the venn diagram and fill it out with your student as you discuss how those items are the same and how they are different.
